okay, so back after a bit of a break from LJ, can't say that i'll be on all that much, although i do check, we'll see.

so, holidays at the moment, or as they say, study break, which of course doesn't mean study break at all, but ' lecture break' with essays at the end of the fortnight sort of thing...

me... i'm good, slowly getting through this world, making sense of the sense, and playing with the nonsense. many less crushes than i'm used to, although the BIG fanciful feelings i had for a friend are still somewhere around, i think they always will be. otherwise i've met a few people that have piqued my interest a girl who was off to melbourne the next day... (darn), and a musician who unfortunately is taken, but who i definitely get the fuzzies for... polite fuzzies that is.

sometime in the future i will be moving from this flat, it's not the flatmates, they are great, just having been here for three years, and that i'm in the noisiest and brightest (at night) room is getting a bit much,

ottilie is off to chile in 2 months, which is WOW, she's freaking out about getting everything in order, and i'm sad that she is going, although i know that she will be going far away from the things that cause her such strain here,

should be planting some veges soon, yay! flatmates are all keen to do that, this time we will plant into large pots, as we had found that it was just a bit difficult to get the willpower to water them. one idea i had was to syphon bath water (if i'm using grey water safe products, i.e. epsom salts etc) to the pots, we'll see if this works out haha, if it does, it'll mean a nice relaxing bath and then plants getting their magnesium et al... although i'm not going to bath in bio-phos or blood and bone, ahem

finally got into the garden today, re-potted my blue butterfly plant, and put all the basil seedlings out, then the beetroot seedlings, and then tried to make some order out of all the chamomile i'd grown, in the end i think i've got about 60 plants growing,

hearing the fireworks outside, and the poor dogs yelping with the noise...i'm an advocate of banning them, and just having a biiiiiiig display in the domain... or something, i'm not anti-fireworks i'm just anti-animal cruelty and other behavior that goes on around this time, when one has more gunpowder than braincells,

plus the ones you buy are nothing like going to see a fireworks display...

yesterday was good, [info]cheshire2evolve came over for a catch up and so we did, ottilie took some time out as well, we had a moderate feast, and had a small walk around the block as the rain clouds looked very foreboding, steel blue as ottilie had noted, contrasting with the orange brick of chimneys in the area. i've been spending way too much time inside the house, alas the weather hasn't helped, but just a lowness recently.... lack of money + stress + other stuff

decided to get a membership with video ezy down the road, we had been going to the blockbuster, but frankly the service and selection is very poor, and i was pleasantly surprised as to the range of dvds they have in the other place, given it is the size of my living room, but as they stack with the spine of the cases showing rather than the front, so they use 1/7th the space as the other one, yay! plus they have an after hours return slot, yay!

quite nite [Oct. 23rd, 2007|09:26 pm]
a quiet enough day, actually got around to listening to my Jacques Brel cd, which i had bought about a year ago, but hadn't really listened to, it really is amazing, especially when you realize a few of the songs were sung the year that he died, when he had already had half of one of his lungs removed due to cancer...

listening to that, plus Portishead - Portishead and one might almost say i'm setting myself up for an emo afternoon, well that plus the band-aid on my left index finger (a washing up knife accident) it seems would add to the atmosphere of melancholy, but there is so much proudness in both Brel and Beth Gibbons delivery to remove that aspect, plus my finger isn't hurting, so, less the heartache...

i was shocked to hear that Charlotte Gainsbourg had a Cerebral Hemorrhage last month, thank goodness she survived, she had had a small water ski accident, and had been complaining of headaches, whoa

had 5 minutes of lights out tonight, Chloe had forwarded me a link to a French "Light's Off" challenge "5 minutes for the Earth - Turn off the power!!!" for the night of the 23rd, which i observed for 10 minutes, then just decided to leave the light off and type this in the dark...haha

labour weekend, rain rain, sparrows and cats, cleaning and interneting [Oct. 22nd, 2007|03:25 pm]
just doing some overdue cleaning, mop mop mop, scrape scrape scrape, it's a rather sleepy day otherwise, a nap here, a nap there :)

i am in need of a holiday somewhere, i might have said already, but i will say it again,

mum just went to australia, and we picked her up yesterday from the airport, she seemed rested, and i'm glad that she got away,

facebook is great! one of my friends i haven't heard from in 12 years has just got in contact with me, yay! i had tried several times to track them down within that time, but it took facebook to finally connect us again :D

turns out the happy valley 'terror' story wasn't true, the police were looking for someone that might have been there, having been involved with the other 'terrorist camp' thing, they found the person in christchurch with no problems, whew

chocolate shoes don't taste the blues (as long as you take regular doses) [Sep. 19th, 2007|10:33 pm]
apparently the same 77% of people aren't prepared to pay more for recycling...mmm, figures.....

got a pair of the last NOSWEAT shoes from tradeaid, whooo hoooo, apparently the contracted company constructing the shoes in Indonesia has been bought out by another company who isn't prepared to pay them decent wages, so NOSWEAT is moving to Argentina, which is too expensive for tradeaid to import....alas...but tradeaid is getting rooibos in this week :D the best milk chocolate is from tradeaid, try it....go on...

got a haircut, which i like alot, from cut above student salon, $15, mwwaaaaaaaa

the inconvenienced consumer [Sep. 17th, 2007|04:51 pm]
i'm quite scared by the latest herald poll, as it reads at the moment, only 23% of people taking the poll are prepared to pay more to pay more to help the planet, what selfishness...i'm not a rich person, well, by NZ standards, i know there are people poorer than me, but i'm more than prepared to pay more for power, granted, as long as i know the money is going to eco-minded initiatives,

i know there is a bias in NZherald readership, alas, alas most advertisements are either for cars or travel, yet, i do think NZ is a hypocritical nation, selling a clean green image, whilst being one of the most petrol and money headed nations around, all this talk of prestige, how about some reality?

when people say 'well, you've got to live...' they don't just mean food, water, power, shelter, they seem to mean all the bells and whistles, that whilst are nice, are not sustainable in their present forms of production,

when i was a kid i used to pray, as you do when taught to, the things i remember praying for where, thanking for having food, water, shelter, and hoping for those is less fortunate positions than ourselves, i cannot help but think we become less fortunate and less thankful every day

to 77% of those people, i hope you change your minds, or else you'll never know the real story

back from whangarei, went there for a few days, first time since the stuff with dad, was good, but as usual by the end of three days i was ready to go back home,

it turns out that one of my dads best friends, and the soon to be owner of my dad car is [info]cheshire2evolve's fathers friend as well, such a small world...haha,

mom asked if i wanted to go overseas, i'm assuming she means to pay for me, i have to think about this, could i deal with 9 weeks with my mother, well, some would probably be visiting other peoples like [info]cloudgirl have to think, think, think about it...

just bought a tool box for $9 at placemakers, as we have lots of lose flat tools, seems like the best thing to do, also found some nice rainbow candles for a friend :D
